Previously Published to News Break One year into the pandemic and our world is becoming the ultimate ghost town. We’re seeing a massive exodus from the West Coast, businesses closing doors, and workers being laid off in numbers from those that had never been laid off before. Tech says there’s an app for that but so many fail to listen! In an annual Kong survey, more than 400 senior technology decision-makers were polled across a broad range of US and European industries, the general consensus was that if businesses refused to modernize, they’d be next to be featured in the Smithsonian. According to the 2021 Digital Innovation Benchmark report, 51% of tech leaders expect a majority of businesses to go under, or be acquired, by 2024. These leaders went so far as to state that companies lagging in digital innovation may live only three years — and, that’s if they rush to do something now. In fact, nearly 89% of respondents went on to explain that by creating new digital experiences, businesses could easily combat the challenges faced by the pandemic and that these interests should serve as critical to their organization going forward. In 2020, only 75% of respondents […]

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED TO TMC NET’S REAL TIME COMMUNICATIONS With the mobile workforce revolutionizing businesses, both small and large, it’s becoming more conventional to meet our clients and business partners for a quick chat over the wire. While it’s pretty cool to think back to where we were just ten years ago, we’re still not as far as we would think. In fact, GFK, a firm dedicated to market research in Technology, reveals that only a quarter of U.S. consumers are regularly engaging in digital interaction and consider it just as good as being face-to-face. Overseas consumers reflect similar sentiments. Globally, women are more apt to welcoming virtual interactions than men. In the United States, it’s the men, who more strongly agree with the fact that meeting face to face is “just as good.” While it is true that nothing compares to human interaction, one can argue that with collaborative tools, productivity is actually maximized through evolved technologies and real-time communications. One could also argue that corporate dollars are being saved, where they previously splurged on luxurious business trips, both cross-country and cross continental. Not so surprisingly, only 20-30 percent of all consumers completely disagree. This leaves a majority of overall […]

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED TO TMCNET’S WEBRTC SOLUTIONS With over 37 bugfixes and new added features, Chrome48 is now being enhanced with scalable WebRTC and VP9 updates. As Chrome collaborates with Vidyo to release the new VP9 codec, cross-platform delivery will now allow video calls to take place through the same high quality it always has but with a 40 percent lower bitrate than the previous VP8 codec. This leads to improved HD-calling at the previous bitrate through the WebRTC open source project. The downfall is that it will take up an additional 15 percent of CPU. While the stream may not freeze and lag as much, systems may. Portable devices may also see a decrease in battery life when the app is powered on. There are many cases where previous versions of Hangouts have completely killed batteries for tablets using this app, requiring additional charge time. The plus side to this new release, however, is that it is scalable. All things considered, battery life may not be a problem after all. This will encourage an increase in video calling for both business and pleasure. Because Chrome will utilize the previous VP8 codec by default, VP9 will have to be applied directly […]

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED TO TMC NET’S REAL-TIME COMMUNICATIONS Survata Research Partners recently carried out a survey on behalf of FollowAnalytics and Gigaom Research on mobile app utilization by enterprise users. A focus group of 450 mobile marketers was surveyed on their mobile activity and the results of mobile marketing in 2015. To better understand the priorities and needs of marketers across some of the world’s most leading brands, the survey sought to find the root of potential issues, as brands adopt “mobile-first and omnichannel” business practices. The goal of this survey was to find new ways to “improve the customer experience, while creating long- term customer value and loyalty,“ elements that build for long-term success of a brand and influence word of mouth initiatives set forth by marketers, over time.  The study noted that a “majority of marketers say connected CRM-driven mobile apps are extremely important to developing rich, omnichannel customer journeys.” In fact, the collected data has led FollowAnalytics to recommend that brands seeking a return on mobile investment should adopt mobile app strategies, while targeting that exact customer value, utilizing an ominichannel approach to instill personalization and customer interactivity — allowing them to utilize personal data across platforms and […]

Through unified communications, people are able to stay in constant contact with one another, ensuring faster, more efficient decision-making and with minimal error. The only problem is, 50 percent of respondents agree with one another when saying that most companies need to invest in better resources for users to adopt these concepts and the training that goes with getting the most out of unified communications solutions. “Businesses are eager to benefit from the collaboration and productivity enhancements that UC has to offer,” states Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product at XO Communications, Jake Heinz. “XO believes that businesses profit from understanding that companies using unified communications services are benefiting significantly from improved collaboration and productivity.
